Papayas Linked to National Salmonella Outbreak

The CDC and FDA are reporting that a national outbreak of Salmonella Agona could be linked to recalled papayas. On July 23, 2011, Agromod Produce, Inc. of McAllen, Texas recalled all Blondie, Yaya, Mañanita, and Tastylicious Brand papayas sold prior to July 23rd. The papayas suspected in the Salmonella outbreak were sold to retailers and wholesalers throughout the United States and Canada.
According to the FDA, two papayas at Agromod's McAllen facility tested positive for the same strain of Salmonella that is involved in the national outbreak.
