Jensen Farms Cantaloupes Linked to National Listeria Outbreak

The CDC and FDA are reporting that a national outbreak of Listeriosis monocytogenes has been linked to contaminated cantaloupes produced by Jensen Farms of Colorado. On September 14, 2011, Jensen Farms voluntarily recalled its Rocky Ford cantaloupes through the FDA. Then, on September 29, 2011 an expanded recall was announced this time including three additional states: Louisiana, Indiana, and Wisconsin. Since that time, the CDC has reported over 100 illnesses and more than 20 deaths linked to one of four Listeria strains involved in this multi-state outbreak.
